The building Greenwell & Thomas Pharmacy is located in was constructed in 1916, and called the Raeburn.

It is an example of a Federation period commercial building in the Katoomba Town Centre.

A local builder called William Raeburn Copeland owned a single shop on the site of the present building by 1911.

He subdivided Raeburn into three sections in 1916.

After Copeland’s death in 1929, the entire property wa acquired by Peter and James Georgopoulous or Poulos, the well-known proprietors of the Niagara at 92 Bathurst Road.

They sold off the rear half of the yard in 1940, but otherwise leased the premises out as before.

In 1932 Neville Greenwell completed his degree in Pharmacy at the University of Sydney.

Following his graduation he worked in one of the two Greenwell and Thomas Pharmacies in Katoomba, the 'Top Shop' on the corner of Main and Katoomba Streets.

Following the death of his father in 1973, Neville owned and operated the Greenwell & Thomas Pharmacies, which was sold in 1977.

Current owner, Karim Rizkalla, who also graduated from the University of Sydney in 1994, purchased the pharmacy in 1997.
